Who are we?
Wittstock Risk Management Consultancy is a father – son enterprise.
Established by Clinton, the younger of the two, Wittstock Risk Management Consultancy offers bespoke safety, health, environmental (SHE), disaster and event risk management services to businesses in varied industries.
In the beginning
“A seed is planted long before branches dress in leaves.” Clinton Wittstock.
Derek has 45 years of experience as a Safety, Health and Environmental Practitioner. The bulk of this experience was forged in the depths of the North West Province working as a Safety professional on the world’s largest platinum deposit, the Merensky Reef. After retiring from the mine, Derek was headhunted by his former mine managers to take up a consulting and training role in Zambia and then again in Tanzania.
Settling down in Cape Town, Derek consulted for a local SHE Consultancy with a focus on the construction industry. Derek now acts as the senior technical advisor for Wittstock Risk Management Consultancy. The insight he brings to the table concerning more intricate projects ensures that our client’s risk is always meticulously analysed and consequently superbly managed.
Experience matters
“The only source of knowledge is experience.” Albert Einstein.
Clinton has worked in many industries across the globe and has hands-on experience of a vast variety of jobs. Throughout his career Safety, Health, Environmental(SHE), Disaster and Event Risk Management has always been a focus in some way or another, whether managing the food safety as a restaurant manager or the SHE aspects of the painting and decorating company he successfully owned and managed for a decade.
The decade prior to establishing Wittstock Risk Management Consultancy, Clinton focused on specialising in the risk management of construction projects as the Client’s Safety Agent Representative or as the Safety Coordinator managing the SHE staff and aspects of multiple projects. He brings this wealth of experience and intimate knowledge of a large gamut of industries and jobs to the table when assessing his clients’ needs.
Clinton graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Disaster and Safety Management, which also covered event risk management, in 2019 and has been a member of the Disaster management Institute of South Africa (DMISA) ever since. Clinton was part of the response team responsible for the making safe of the University of Cape Town after the 2021 fires decimated large parts of the campus.
Together the father-son duo uses their shared wealth of experience to ensure that Wittsock Risk Management consultancy is able to efficiently, effectively and professionally service their clients’ needs.
